Akeredolu disowns 2023 presidential campaign posters

THE Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has dissociated himself from campaign posters linking him to the 2023 presidential election. The posters, which have gone viral on social media, contained pictures of Akeredolu and the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, with the logo of the All Progressives Congress. In one of them, there was an inscription titled, ‘Save Redeem Nigeria 2023.’ The poster also indicated that a group, New Reform Nigeria Group was the sponsor. However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Richard Olatunde, in a statement, said Akeredolu had nothing to do with the “pseudo campaigners.” The statement read, “In the last two weeks, campaign posters and fliers urging Governor Akeredolu to contest the next presidential election have dotted a section of the social media. “The latest poster depicted an Akeredolu/Buni joint APC ticket. Alhaji Mai Mala Buni is the governor of Yobe State and doubles as Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee. “Undoubtedly, development is no less a needless distraction. Even though Mr Governor’s constitutional right, qualification and competencies are not in doubt, this particular campaign does not represent in any manner, his immediate political disposition. “For emphasis, Governor Akeredolu who has just been re-elected wishes to be left to focus on deepening good governance in Ondo State.”
