Nigerian Army buries Major General Ahmed killed by bandits in Abuja

The remains of the former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, late Major General Huseini Ahmed were laid to rest at Guards Brigade Cemetery, Abuja Recall that General Huseini Ahmed was killed on Thursday by unknown gunmen while travelling on Lokoja-Abuja road According to a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Directior of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya during the funeral rites, described the deceased as an articulate, dedicated, loyal and highly professional officer in the discharge of his duties.I Unknown gunmen killed General Ahmed on Thursday night at a location near Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and abducted his sister, Safina Ahmed, who was in the car with him while the driver, Sergeant Bukar was badly injured. The late Army General who was recently appointed as a Director at the Army Headquarters in Abuja was to be returning from Okenne, Kogi State. The burial ceremony had in attendance, the Chief of Defence Staff, General LEO Irabor; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya,representatives of other Service Chiefs, representatives of the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Heads of Security Agencies, Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, Field Commanders, Senior Officers both serving and retired, members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, the deceased senior officers immediate family members, friends and sympathisers among others
